Saltire Cushion Pattern (pdf download)
The Saltire, or St Andrew’s Cross, has been the national flag of Scotland for at least 1000 years, depending on your legend of choice.
It’s one of the oldest flags in the world, and is instantly recognisable, thanks to its simple colour scheme and dramatic diagonal cross.
To celebrate your heritage and ancestry, why not knit yourself your own Saltire cushion?
The reverse has a tartan effect design with a choice of alternative colourways, and the finished cushion fits a 30cm x 50cm pad.
I used Kinross 4 ply yarn - 1 skein each of Saltire (blue), Snowdrop (white) and Navy
The pattern uses intarsia and surface crochet. Alternative colourways for the reverse and different style suggestions are included.
Requires 3.25mm needles, and a 2.5 (or 3mm) crochet hook for creating the tartan check on the reverse.
Needs 5 buttons approx 15 mm diameter.
The design is charted and written, and has been checked by a dyslexic for readability. However, if any part of the pattern is confusing, please get in touch here
