Kinross Lambswool 4 ply
Kinross Lambswool 4 ply
Fankle Yarns are incredibly proud to be stocking this gorgeous yarn which is made just a few miles from our suppliers, Wee County Yarns.
Kinross 4ply is 100% lambswool from certified non-mulesed flocks that knits up with a soft, cosy handle. This yarn is spun by Todd and Duncan, a firm that has been making high-quality yarns for 150 years. Until 1950 they were based in Alva, in the Wee County, which used to be filled with textile mills. They are now based on the shores of Loch Leven at Kinross, making cashmere and lambswool yarns for big name fashion labels.
This 4 ply weight yarn is sold in 50 skeins, very prettily showing off their amazing colours, and very easy to wind into a ball.
There are 205m in each skein, making it a generous 4 ply, and usually means you need fewer skeins to make a garment (always check overall meterage, Feel free to ask for help with substituting yarn).
The tension is a standard 28 sts and 36 rows to 10 cm using 3.25mm (UK 10) needles.
This yarn REALLY benefits from blocking after knitting - the lambswool, already soft and luscious to knit with, blooms and softens and becomes an amazing fabric, with no change to the tension. I have ‘before’ and ‘after’ samples in the shop which show exactly this transformation!
Best to handwash (unless you really trust your washing machine delicates cycle). There may be some slight colour loss upon first soaking, but this is just excess dye and should be fine subsequently.
100% superfine (gorgeous, luxurious) lambswool !
