Flora Fibres Tencel DK
Flora Fibres Tencel DK
Flora Fibres, based in Fife, has an amazing range of Vegan yarns that she dyes from foraged and garden-grown plants, making beautifully soft colours on these silky bases.
This tencel DK is made from wood cellulose which has been mashed, treated with a solvent, then respun into fibres. No chemicals are allowed to seep into the environment, as this fibre is made in a closed loop system where everything, even the water used, is recycled. The wood used is from FSC approved plantations. The finished fibre is white, and takes dye beautifully, and the plant dyes used by Flora Fibres are gathered from nature, with no harsh chemicals used to process them. Read more about it here
Basically this is one eco-friendly, vegan-friendly, planet-friendly yarn!
The yarn itself has a lustre like silk, with a stunning sheen and amazing drape. It works up into gorgeous summer weight fabrics, allowing your skin to breathe and moisture to be wicked from the body. and its as practical as cotton.
The yarn is presented in bundles of 2-3 skeins, which are ideal for shawls, tops, accessories. etc. Enjoy finding the perfect pattern for these beauties :)
NB The Logwood bundle is more purple and less silver than it appears online.
Each DK weight skein has 225m (245 yards) in a 100g skein, and contains 100% tencel yarn. The dyes may bleed slightly on a first wash and may colour your hands while using (I’m looking at you, indigo) but it will wash off.
