Handspun Yarn - made in Prestwick, Ayrshire
Beautiful Handspun yarn made right here in Prestwick by Seanmhair’s Shed. (‘Seanmhair’ is Gaelic for ‘granny’, and is pronounced ‘shen-a-var’)
The fibre combinations make for subtle differences between the yarns. Merino is used for softness next to the skin. Sari silk for its vibrant colours. BFL (blue faced leicester) for its silky staple. Corriedale for strength. Stellina for sparkle. Silk for drape, luxury and depth of colour. Falkland for softness. Shetland for warmth.
Spearmint Sock - This is a beautiful minty greeny-blue, hard to capture on the computer screen. There are streaks of turquoise, pistachio, apple green, and teal mixed in throughout this gorgeous spearmint-coloured yarn. There’s 460m per 100g, making for generous socks, and one skein will make a small shawl.Spun in two plies, and very squishy, the Corriedale makes this a hardy knit for socks, so don’t worry about the lack of nylon. Handwash only. Knit on 2mm-2.5mm for socks, and any gauge you like for shawls :)
Navy Rust Sport - An unusual colour marl effect, but a striking one. The navy/purple ply is twined with an orange and gold shade that looks like the last gasp of sunset fading to dark night - so pretty! These skeins are only 50g in weight, but have a length of 150m, making this a perfect 4 ply thickness yarn. Hand wash only. Perfect for small projects like gloves, mittens, hats, socks, anywhere you want a super-cosy extremity!
Peony Sock - A subtle tweedy-effect fingering weight yarn with beautiful squish in the knitted fabric. Absolutely gorgeous for any accessory - see the sample shawl in the images.
